A Batch Box from fall 2013

In the past few years, subscription boxes featuring all sorts of goods have popped up, ranging from make-up to dog treats or gourmet goodies.  And why not?  Everyone loves getting mail!

Batch is unique because it features locally-made food and drinks from a few key cities.  The company started in Nashville, but you can also order boxes from Memphis, Charleston, or Austin.  Most importantly, all the products in the boxes are made in the affiliated cities.  So you get to try some amazing items and support small local businesses.  What’s not to love?  In fact, I even know a few Nashville producers who credit Batch with giving them their first big break.

Batch’s subscription service has three options – seasonal (3 months), month to month, and annual.  It’s the proverbial gift that keeps on giving!  They also have great gift boxes at a variety of price points if you just want a one-time gift.  All their boxes have a theme, like the “Rise and Shine”  box with breakfast goodies.

If you know of any college students or folks serving overseas, these would make great care packages.  A Batch box would also be an amazing gift for someone who is new to one of these towns or has recently moved and misses home.  Or anyone who loves food, really.

I did a seasonal subscription last fall, shortly after Batch got started.  It’s certainly not the cheapest subscription box out there, but the products are top quality, and you often get full size items instead of samples.  A few of my favorite treats were Prohibition Popcorn, Walker Creek caramels, and Soberdough bread mix.

My favorite part was learning about local producers and getting to try some of their goods.  I think of myself as someone pretty in-the-know about the Nashville food scene, but I got items from a ton of producers that I had never heard of.  Now I know to seek them out!

If you would like to try Batch for yourself (or as a gift), they are generously offering our readers 10% of all orders.  Just use this link and coupon code BATCHTASTIC at checkout!
