Do you have snow in your area right now? Nashville and Philly got hit with a blast of winter weather this week, so we’ve both got plenty. In fact, the picture above is my in-laws backyard!
Snow is rare here in the South, and both the kids and adults in our neighborhood have been taking advantage of the snow/sleet combo. They have spent the past three days sledding down the hills in the park by our house. The ice mixed in makes for some really fast rides!
And if you have fresh, clean snow in your area you might want to take advantage of a truly seasonal dessert made with fresh snow! I remember making snow cream when I was a kid, and there are a ton of recipes for it out there, plus a few more creative combos. We rounded up a few for your next snow day!
Snow Cream from Gimme Some Oven: This is a lightened up version of the traditional snow cream recipe that still has plenty of flavor!
Dairy Free Snow Cream from Wellness Mama: This option uses coconut milk so even the lactose intolerant can enjoy a treat. Plus it sounds delicious!
Maple Syrup Taffy from The Kitchn: Did you see my post where we ate this at the carnival in Quebec? Or maybe you remember this from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books? Either way, here is how to make it at home!
